OSL Support recommends that member libraries standardize on the following software.
- Microsoft Office. Although Office 2007 is the latest version, Office 2003 is still a better choice for most libraries because its interface is familiar to more people.
- Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition (SAVCE). OSL purchases licenses to the latest version of SAVCE, so that members can use it on all of their computers. As of 2007, there is no need to purchase Symantec Antivirus separately.
- Deep Freeze Enterprise, from Faronics. Deep Freeze is a security product that prevents all changes to a Windows system without interfering with normal usage. OSL purchases licenses to the latest version of Deep Freeze, so that members can use it on any computer. Deep Freeze Enterprise enables staff to manage all public computers with Deep Freeze installed from a single staff console.
