OSL Support: Receipt Printer Setup

Updated: March 22, 2006

Receipt Printer Setup

1. Printer Setup

Connect the receipt printer to a computer using a standard parallel printer cable. Connect the printer's electrical cable to an outlet on a surge protector. Load a roll of paper following the diagram inside the printer's paper cover.

2. Millennium

Receipt printing is normally controlled by Millennium. If you have a printer in the Epson TM-T88 series, you can get it to do partial paper cutting by doing the following in the Millennium Circulation menus:
  • File
  • Select Printer
  • Receipt Printer
  • Local Printer
  •    Click OK
  • Name: Generic/Text Only [select the Windows receipt printer]
  • Select the Format tab
  • Select "Send auto-cut". Optionally, set Lines to eject = 4
  •   Click OK

3. Ordering Paper

Paper for receipt printers can be ordered through the OSL office. Minimum order is for one case of paper. Contact the Administrative Assistant for ordering information. Paper is usually shipped within five to seven days after you place an order.

4. If Holds Receipts Don't Print Correctly

If Holds receipts fail to print correctly in Millennium on an Epson TM-T88[II, III or IV] series printer, the solution is to use the old "Epson TM-T88II Partial Cut" printer driver.   In many cases, this driver is already installed, because it was the recommended driver for Horizon.  With this driver, hold receipts will be correctly formatted.

Please note that if hold receipts are printing correctly, there is no need to use the Epson driver.

I. Download the Epson TM-T88II driver. If you don't have the Epson TM-T88II driver already, you can get a copy from OSL Support.  The driver works under both Windows 2000 and XP.

  1. Go to the SupportFTP site in Internet Explorer
  2. Right-click on 'epsonTM88.zip'.
  3. Click Save when the File dialog appears.
  4. When the download is complete, extract the files from epson.zip with a ZIP program such as 7-Zip.

II. Install the driver

  1. Run the Add Printer wizard and select "Have disk".
  2. Browse to the EpsonTMT88II flder (that you downloaded and extracted from the zip file).
  3. Select the OEMSETUP.INF file
  4. In the list of printers, select "TM-T88II Partial Cut"
  5. If you see a message that the driver is 'unsigned', ignore it.
  6. Click Next until the printer driver completes installation.
  7. Make the Epson TM-T88II printer the default printer.

III. Millennium printer setup

  1. Login to Millennium
  2. Go to the File menu and pick Select Printer
  3. Select: Receipt Printer, Local Printer
  4. Click OK
  5. Name: Epson TM-T88II Partial Cut
  6. Select the Format tab
  7. Select "Text (Narrow)"
  8. Select "Print form feed"
  9. Select "Send auto-cut". Optionally, set Lines to eject.
  10. Click OK
